Suspect arrested after damaging historic Downtown Thibodaux sign

NEW ORLEANS (WVUE) -The Thibodaux police department has arrested a suspect in connection with damage made to the historic Downtown Thibodaux sign.

On August 25 around 1:55 a.m. an officer saw Allen Frost purposely bend a street sign at the intersection of St. Philip Street and West 4th Street.

Frost denied the allegation, and was issued a misdemeanor summons for simple criminal damage to property.

Damage of ornate directional and street signs specifically purchased for the Downtown Thibodaux Historic District, have recently been a re-occurring issue in the Downtown area.

Chief Zeringue would like to remind all citizens that the Thibodaux Police Department takes these matters very seriously.

Chief Zeringue added that “Any intentional damage of signage will result in not only an arrest, but full restitution if found guilty. The City of Thibodaux and Thibodaux Main Street strives hard to revitalize the Downtown area, and the Thibodaux Police Department will support their efforts by focusing on this ongoing problem”.

Chief Zeringue asks that our community partners contact the Thibodaux Police Department’s Main Phone Line at (985) 446-5021, if they know of any past incidents or witness any future incidents, where signage is being damaged.
