NEW ORLEANS (WVUE) - In a matchup of local unbeatens, John Curtis beat Warren Easton, 38-20. Easton came into the game No. 2 in our Big 8 rankings, Curtis was No. 3.
Collin Guggenheim ran for three touchdowns in the contest. The longest going for 63 yards. Last week against Brother Martin, Guggenheim accounted for four touchdowns.
The Curtis defense intercepted Lance Legendre three times in the contest. Donald Clay ran one of those picks back for a pick-six.
“We felt like we would be a good defensive team. It looks like we’re starting to come around that way. I thought our secondary played well against a team that can throw it and run it. We made some nice knockdowns. In other games he made those plays. It’s hard to stop No. 12 and keep him under control the whole time. But overall I thought they did a good job,” said J.T. Curtis.
“He really is an elite quarterback. That was our main point going into the game. Just for us to accomplish what we did. Man it’s a good feeling on a quarterback like that. I know they’re going to get the job done at the end of the year,” said Donald Clay.
The Patriots improve to 5-0 on the season, and Easton drops to 4-1.
