NEW ORLEANS (WVUE) -The Orleans Parish School Board could implement a new one-app rule to give students who live near schools priority consideration.
The change would give students who live half a mile from a school a better chance of being assigned there.
Many parents complained that their children were assigned to a school far away from their homes.
The additional priority will be similar to the extra consideration given to students who have a sibling attending a particular school.
The board is set to vote on the amendment Thursday.
