NEW ORLEANS (WVUE) - Landry-Walker started the season on a three-game losing streak, but the competition was the best-of-the-best. Curtis, Karr, and Easton delivered "L's" to the Chargin' Bucs. That tough competition was necessary for the growth of LW's season. Now, they're riding a three-game winning streak, with Ehret up next.

Landry-Walker vs Ehret preview

“I think they’re starting to gel and come together as one. We got off to a very slow start, but we played three really good teams. It’s always a measuring stick at the end of the season. As we progress forward, we always get better,” said Landry-Walker Head Coach Emmanuel Powell.

Yes, it’s only week seven of the regular season, but Landry-Walker vs John Ehret will probably be for the district title. But, Travis Mumphrey, the quarterback for John Ehret reminds us, there’s still a lot of football left after this weekend.

“To be honest, it should be a really game for us. Any game could be for the district title. Say we played next week against East Jeff. We might come out not playing good. We lose to East Jeff, that could be the district title, lost right there. This game is a regular game. We’re not taking it as the biggest game of the season. We’re going out having fun at practice, doing things we do from week one, to week seven now,” said Ehret QB Travis Mumphrey.

“We can’t take things for granted week-to-week. We got to prepared each and every week to step on the field. It’s not an exact science. You have to come out, prepare the right way, and respect your opponent,” said Ehret Head Coach Marcus Scott.

Ehret’s receiving group is one of the main reasons the Patriots are on a five-game winning streak. With so much depth, you don’t know who will step up game-to-game.

“Yeah we have a lot of playmakers. Beginning of the season people thought we weren’t going to have a lot of playmakers. It was just going to be me. We have Deron Coleman, Jordan Pickney, Mike Jones, Y’Quann (Townsend), Jacoby Windmon. We got a lot of good receivers this year. Every weekend they come out, and just ball out,” said Mumphrey.
