NEW ORLEANS (WVUE) - The New Orleans Police Department is asking for the public’s help identifying and locating two persons of interest in the shooting death of a man near Canal Street Friday night.
Police received a call around 10:30 p.m. about a shooting in the 100 block of Carondelet Street. When officers arrived at the scene, they found a man lying face up in the street suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. The victim was later pronounced dead at the scene.
Investigators are working to determine a suspect and a motive in the shooting.
Saturday afternoon, police released images of two men captured on surveillance video who were in the area at the time of the shooting. Police consider the men as persons of interest and believe that they may have information that may aid police in their investigation.
Police have not released the name of the victim. The Orleans Parish Coroner's Office will release the victim's name along with an official cause of death upon completion of an autopsy and family notification.
