NEW ORLEANS (WVUE) - The Jefferson Parish Sheriff’s Office was investigating an attempted homicide in Metairie Monday night (Oct. 22), according to Capt. Jason Rivarde, a spokesman for the department.

The incident was reported in the 2900 block of Wytchwood Drive, near the edge of Lafreniere Park. Rivarde called the incident “domestic,” and said it started with a dispute between a 20-year-old man and his girlfriend.

Franklin Pinto is accused of holding a knife up to his 18-year-old girlfriend’s throat and threatening to kill her, Rivarde said. The victim sustained minor injuries and had marks on her neck from the knife, according to Rivarde, but the woman was not seriously injured.

Pinto was arrested, but his charges were not known Monday night. A booking photo was not immediately available.
