NEW ORLEANS (WVUE) - A 32-year-old Harvey man is accused of shooting his former girlfriend’s new boyfriend in Marrero Saturday night (Nov. 17), according to the Jefferson Parish Sheriff’s office.

Torrey Hart, 32, was booked into the the Jefferson Parish Correctional Center in Gretna Tuesday (Nov. 20) with two counts of attempted second-degree murder, aggravated criminal damage to property, simple criminal damage to property and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, online court records show.

According to Capt. Jason Riverde, a JPSO spokesman, the shooting came after Hart and his ex-girlfriend got into a fight. Around 8:45 p.m. Saturday, Hart’s ex-girlfriend was sitting in a car with her 28-year-old boyfriend and a child in the 5200 bock of Mount Shasta Lane when Hart shot at them. Rivarde said a bullet grazed the victim’s head. His injury was not life-threatening, Rivarde said, and no one else was hurt.

The shooting also left bullet holes in a nearby home, which prompted the criminal damages charges, Rivarde said.

Agents with the U.S. Marshals Service New Orleans Field Office arrested Hart Monday, according to our partners at NOLA.com | The Times-Picayune, and he was later transported to the jail in Gretna. As of Tuesday night, Hart was being held without bond.
