NFL All-Pro voting indicates Brees will have odds against him in MVP race

NEW ORLEANS (WVUE) - The 50 Associated Press members who voted on the NFL All-Pro team, also vote for the NFL MVP. Which, doesn’t look promising for Saints quarterback Drew Brees.

Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes took All-Pro first-team honors, Brees represented the second-team. The Chiefs quarterback received 45 of the 50 votes at the quarterback position, with only five votes going to Brees.

Mahomes threw for 50 touchdown passes, and more than 5,000 yards for Kansas City. The second-year quarterback is also getting a lot of publicity for his highlight-reel plays during the regular season.

Brees broke the NFL career-passing yardage record against Washington is week 5. He also broke his own record for completion percentage at 74 percent.

The NFL MVP award will be announced the night before the Super Bowl in Atlanta.
