NEW ORLEANS (WVUE) -The New Orleans City Council could vote on a proposal to give city officials oversight over school bus operators.
According to our partners NOLA.com | The Times-Picayune, the council has little control over the city’s school system.
The city’s Director of Safety and Permits told the city council that bus operators have been neglecting regulations imposed by The Louisiana Department of Education.
The directors say back in 2018, inspectors noticed a number of buses violated state law by having fake brake tags or damaged exteriors.
However, the Chief of Staff for Council-member Kristin Giselson said today’s vote may be deferred.
