The clouds are expected to break before lunchtime giving way to more sunshine this afternoon. Highs will reach the low 50s with a northerly breeze.
Tonight, the mostly clear skies will allow us to cool very efficiently. Areas north of Lake Pontchartrain will fall into the low to mid 30s. South of the lake, temperatures will fall to near 40.
High pressure will hold on through mid-week then move east. This will allow onshore flow to return and the warm up to begin. Highs will reach the low 70s Thursday through Saturday.
Our next strong cold front will arrive Saturday night. We may see the coldest air of the season by early next week.
