NEW ORLEANS (WVUE) -The New Orleans Police Department is searching for a man they believe is responsible for a battery on Bourbon Street that left a victim in critical condition.

According to NOPD, the suspect struck the victim from behind in the 400 block of Bourbon Street on Jan. 18.

The victim was knocked unconscious and fell to the ground, striking his head on the concrete. He is listed in critical condition at an area hospital.

While some Bourbon Street employees said they were unaware of the assault, others said they’ve seen many fights.

“I’ve walked down here many times and seen arguments and fights, and one of my first weekends working down here, somebody actually got shot on the corner I was working on, which was Bayou Classic," one worker said. "Like I said, you never know what to expect at any given time.”
