NEW ORLEANS (WVUE) - A second teenager has been arrested in connection to the murder of 47-year-old Rechelle Hotard, according to the St. John Parish Sheriff’s Office.
Police say a 15-year-old male juvenile from LaPlace was arrested Feb. 8 for second degree murder (felony), possession of marijuana, and possession or distribution of drug paraphernalia.
He was transferred to the Rivarde Juvenile Detention Center in Gretna.
Last Wednesday, a 15-year-old male from Reserve was arrested in connection to the homicide investigation. He was charged with second degree murder. He is in custody at the Terrebonne Juvenile Center.
Around 1 a.m., on Feb 6, deputies responded to the 100 block of West 17th in Reserve in reference to gunshots heard in the area. Upon arrival, officers discovered a female subject, identified as Rechelle Hotard, unresponsive lying on the ground.
Hotard had sustained gunshot wounds to the body. She was pronounced deceased at the scene by the coroner’s office. A motive has not been determined at this time.
