Judge rules teen suspected of killing councilwoman’s sister will stay in jail
Rechelle Hotard, 47

NEW ORLEANS (WVUE) -A teen accused in the murder of a councilwoman’s sister appeared in court on Thursday.

The St. John Parish Sheriff’s Office said two 15-year-old boys are charged.

An ad hoc judge ruled there is enough evidence to continue holding one of the 15-year-olds arrested for the second-degree murder of Rechelle Hotard in reserve last week.

The first was arrested on a murder charge Wednesday, the same day investigators found Hotard, 47, shot outside her Reserve home.

Investigators announced Monday that a second 15-year-old was arrested Friday and faces second-degree murder and drug charges.

Hotard is the sister of St. John Councilmember Jaclyn Hotard.
