A New Orleans grand jury on Thursday (Oct. 25, 2018) indicted Mikeise Jefferson, 16, on a charge of attempted first-degree murder in the Sept. 2 attack of a 39-year-old male counselor, who suffered a head wound that required medical staples, prosecutors said.

NEW ORLEANS (WVUE) -A teen accused of brutally beating a Youth Study Center employee is due in court Wednesday.

A bond hearing is set for 17-year-old Mikeise Jefferson.

He was indicted in October of last year on an attempted first-degree murder charge.

Investigators said last September, he barricaded himself inside an office at the center.

Prosecutors say when counselors tried to remove Jefferson, he attacked a 39-year-old counselor, whose head injury required medical staples.
