BATON ROUGE, LA (WAFB) - The Bayou Country Superfest returns to Tiger Stadium this year.
Kenny Chesney, Florida Georgia Line, and Dan + Shay, and Cassadee Pope will perform on May 25, kicking off memorial day weekend. Jason Aldean, Kane Brown, and Brett Young, Chase Rice will perform on May 26.
Tickets will go on sale Thursday, Feb. 21. Pre-sale tickets will go on sale Friday, Feb. 15. You can visit Ticketmaster for more.
The festival’s return to Baton Rouge could be an economic win for the city, which partnered with the state office of tourism and Visit Baton Rouge to lure the festival back with a nearly $1 million tax incentive.
“When you see a weekend when most people leave town just to go do something different,” Lt. Gov. Billy Nungesser said. “This gives people a reason to stay, but most important, it gives them a reason to come.”
The 2019 festival will be the 10th anniversary of Bayou Country Superfest. The Memorial Day festival spent the last two years at the Superdome in New Orleans while LSU renovated Tiger Stadium.
“The venue could not be better and the talent could not be better,” Gov. John Bel Edwards said, noting that he “loves” country music.
“I’ve never really had such enthusiasm and support at every level,” festival director Quint Davis said. “We just had a press conference with the governor of Louisiana. I’ve never really had a press conference with the governor of a state.”
In the past, Bayou Country Superfest has brought in between $3 and $4 million in revenue for local grocery stores, hotels, and restaurants. Visit Baton Rouge officials told WAFB local businesses clamored for the festival’s return after the first Memorial Day weekend without it two years ago.
Davis said the festival organizers wanted to go big to honor the 10th anniversary and reward Baton Rouge country fan’s loyalty.
“Normally, you don’t end up with much of what you put on your wish list,” Davis said, praising the lineup. “This year, we got them all.”
The elephant in the stadium, so to speak, is the man who loves to call Baton Rouge. Garth Brooks is on a stadium tour this year with a show in Pittsburgh the weekend before Memorial Day, but he is not included in the current Bayou Country Superfest lineup.
