NEW ORLEANS (WVUE) - There’s an update tonight (Feb. 15) as an injured Jefferson Parish firefighter struggles to recover after falling through a roof.
According to the Detroit Fire Department, where Danny Zeigler used to work, he's facing several health issues.
His breathing has improved, but not as much as doctors would like. He’s also fighting pneumonia and a MRSA infection. Doctors have placed a chest tube to relieve fluid around Zeigler’s lungs and heart.
Zeigler fell through the roof of an Old Metairie condominium while fighting a fire earlier this month. He also suffered second- and third-degree burns.
There’s a blood drive to support Zeigler’s recovery on Sunday at the Tic Toc Cafe in Metairie from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
