NEW ORLEANS (WVUE) - Brees the dog gets a clean bill of health after he was rescued from an apartment fire Feb. 14.
Brees was released from MedVet Animal Hospital Tuesday after the New Orleans Fire Department rescued him from a three-alarm fire at the Esplanade at City Park Apartments.
First responders found the pup unresponsive and overcome by smoke. Brees was removed from the building by firefighters where New Orleans Emergency Medical Services personnel were able to resuscitate the dog before NOPD officers rushed him to a veterinarian hospital.
“He’s going home,” said critical care specialist Dr. Alan Ralph with MedVet, “Had first responders not performed perfectly, he would not have made it to the hospital. Brees is alive because of their bravery.”
The fire started in a unit on the seventh floor and left seven residents and four pets displaced.
