Hundreds attend ‘Swing in the Oaks’ to see LPO at City Park

LPO performs at City Park on Tuesday

NEW ORLEANS (WVUE) - Music lovers brought their blankets, chairs and foot the free “Swing in the Oaks” concert series at City Park on Tuesday.

The event, featuring the Louisiana Philharmonic Orchestra started at 7 p.m. on the Great Lawn.

Past musical selections have included traditional classics and modern favorites: “Light Cavalry Overture”, music from Carmen Suite, selections from Phantom of the Opera, “Strike Up the Band”, “Muppet Medley”, a traditional New Orleans Medley, “Big Band Fantasy”, Irving Berlin - A Symphonic Portrait, and “Stars and Stripes Forever”.

City Park also offered food and drinks for purchase.

Not only was there a lot of fun, but the LPO was collecting donations on behalf of Second Harvest Food Bank as part of Orchestras Feeding America.
