Time now for my Final Word, and you'll forgive me for throwing a little cold water on this...the greatest football weekend I've been priveledged to be involved with in more than three decades served in my profession.
I haven't been here long, but God willing I am here to stay. I feel like I've been a New Orleanian all my life...I kid you not.
And while I celebrate the Saints’ success and LSU's opportunity in the BCS Championship Game, I am also deeply saddened by what else has happened in our this weekend.
Since Friday, 13 people have been shot...three of whom lost their lives, including an 11-year-old kid who was inside a Jefferson Parish apartment.
Senseless. Heinous. Evil. Shameful.
So, let me add my voice to those of us...the vast majority of us...who love our city, our kids, our neighbors and all the good stuff we have here.
And, if you know somebody who's thinking about shooting...make them stop or turn them in.
I want the Saints and Tigers to win...but, not as much as I want us to win this war against crime.
That's my Final Word.
See you in the morning for wall-to-wall coverage of the BCS festivities starting at 6 a.m.
