BATON ROUGE, La. (AP) - A former LSU football defensive end has been arrested after he was accused of trying to choke a woman.
East Baton Rouge Parish sheriff's deputies tell The Advocate 25-year-old Rahim Alem was booked Tuesday with domestic abuse battery.
According to the arrest affidavit, the victim told deputies that Alem put his hand around her throat and placed his finger inside of her mouth, creating a hook with his finger, in an attempt to prevent the woman from leaving the home.
Deputies say the victim had discoloration to the neck and a laceration to the right cheek inside her mouth.
Alem played in 44 LSU games, started 13 times and started 12 times as a senior in 2009.
It was not immediately clear whether Alem has an attorney.
