A native of Hammond, Indiana, Bob received a Bachelor of Science degree in Meteorology & Oceanography from the University of Michigan in December of 1969.

He received AMS TV Seal of Approval # 90 in 1971 and, after passing a comprehensive exam on theoretical & operational meteorology in June of 2009, was awarded the new AMS CERTIFIED BROADCAST METEOROLOGIST Seal. Bob is the only Chief Meteorologist in New Orleans to display the AMS CBM. He has also been twice honored by the National Hurricane Conference and was named AMS Broadcaster of the Year in 2008.

After a stint in the Marine Corps Reserve and the Air Force Reserves, Bob's first television opportunity began in 1971 at WTVT Television Channel 13 in Tampa, Florida where he trained under Tampa Weather legend Roy Leep.

He moved to WDTN-TV2 in Dayton, Ohio as Chief Meteorologist in 1973 where he stayed for 5 years. In 1978 Bob returned to the South as Chief Meteorologist for WVUE-TV.

Some of the memorable hurricanes Bob has covered are Frederic in 1979, Juan in 1985, Andrew in 1992, Georges in 1998, Tropical Storm Isidore and Hurricane Lilli in 2002, Ivan in 2004 and, of course, Katrina and Rita in 2005.

Unfortunately, the great flood that followed Katrina destroyed all of Bob's television records including his first audition tape from WXYZ-TV in Detroit in 1968.

Bob has 3 grown sons with his late wife Paula and is currently married to Brenda Bell-Breck a native of monroe, LA. He enjoys fishing, golfing and traveling in his spare time and remains active in DVT(blood clots) education.

I have a question? I live in Gray, it's located in Terrebonne Parish between shriever and Houma My question is do you think Gray will get any water?

Norwood needs to go as well. Tonight, she started her tslk about some swirl in the Atlantic that's of no concern to us. If it's of no concern, why work us into a lather for nothing? She does that constantly, not to mention she repeats herself. Also, why do you televise Gray's predictions when he doesn't know jack about hurricanes, not to mention he lives somewhere on some mountaintop in Colorado. The old buzzard keeps revising his predictions, but how it is y'all keep acknowledging them as predictions? They're not predictions after things start happening. Get rid of Norwood and Gray and your credibility will soar.

I was outside a few minutes ago (5:40PM)8/27/10 when I saw what appeared to be very fine snow flakes falling. I tried to catch some but they melted as soon as they hit my hand. Is it possible to have snow flakes now? At first I thought it was a very light drizzle but flying sideways, floating? It didn't last long approximately 5-10 minutes.

Bob! Love your show, you are usually spot on! But, please give us more surge forecasts! We are in bay St. Louis on a bayou and surge forecasts are the only way we can determine how much to move, how high! Everyone says Bonnie is no biggie, but LILI and ISIDORE each put 4 feet on our slab downstairs. No one warned us. Also, that info should be on your site, as well as tides (4 foot surge at high tide is bad!) Thanks!Tman

Fox8 has certainly beefed up their weather spot by adding Dawn Brown. Would love to see Bob and Dawn together for the next major weather event.

Wow..it seems everyone is a critic. I like Bob Breck because he is very funny and entertaining and Dawn Brown is smart and beautiful and chose to live here with us after Katrina which is our good fortune.
