Kimberly Vaughn joined the FOX8 weather team in June 2006. Kimberly is a native of New Orleans and is back home after working at KTVE / KARD in Monroe, LA where she was the weekend/ fill-in weekday meteorologist.
Kimberly is a graduate of Fontainebleau High School in Mandeville and the University of Louisiana at Monroe. But it was at LSU, where Kimberly started college, where she was studying weather and climatology that she decided to follow her passion for weather and television. So she transferred to ULM where she earned her Bachelors Degree in Meteorology.
At her time at ULM, she was apart of ULM Helps (Hurricane and Tornado Research Team). Here she studied and researched some of mother natures most dangerous weather events such as Hurricane Katrina and Rita and devastating Tornadoes through Texas and Oklahoma. Weather events such as these has prepared and made her very knowledgeable in severe weather events.
In September of 2008, Hurricane Gustav was Kimberly’s first major hurricane coverage at FOX8. It was here that she gained loads of experience of non-stop on-air coverage four days straight.
Kim says she's thrilled to be back home and a part of a news/weather team that is committed to helping rebuild New Orleans.
She is currently working towards becoming a Certified Broadcast Meteorologist and is an active member of the American Meteorological Society.
Kimberly is an alumna of Phi Mu Sorority at Louisiana State University.
In her spare time, Kim enjoys rooting for the LSU football team, watching all the latest movies, trying out new restaurants, and spending time with family and friends.
