FOX 8 will air a special presentation honoring the late Edwin Hampton and the St. Augustine High School marching band. St. Augustine High School, 2600 AP Tureaud Ave. will hold a viewing for former band director Edwin Hampton this Friday from noon – 4 p.m. Hampton’s body will then be moved to the Mahalia Jackson Theater of the Performing Arts, 1201 St. Peters St., for a public viewing from 6 p.m. – 7 p.m. A tribute will follow from 7 p.m. – 8:30 p.m.
Funeral services will start Saturday at 8 a.m. at the Corpus Chirsti Catholic Church, 2022 St. Bernard Ave.
Sweet Lorraine's Jazz Club, 1931 St. Claude Ave. will hold a jam session starting at 9 p.m. later in the evening. It is open to the public.
Hampton died Monday night at home in his sleep. He was 81.
