New Orleans - Jazz Fest Producer Quint Davis said not even the threat of a pandemic and a sluggish economy were enough to keep people away from this year's Jazz Fest.
The music festival pulled in a post-Hurricane Katrina record crowd of more than 400,000 over two weeks. Organizers say approximately 90,000 people attended the final Saturday - the largest single day since the storm.
Davis and members of the Jazz Fest Foundation were recognized Thursday by New Orleans City Council members for their efforts to keep the festival successful over four decades.
Davis said many attendees came from around the globe to soak up the great music and sample the wide range of dishes that are a staple during the two weekends of the festival.
Businesses, according to one restaurant owners, were not as lucky. Ralph Brennan says he did not see a spike in sales. He thinks fest-goers spent less money on activities off the festival grounds.
