Jefferson Parish - As FOX 8 News first reported, Jefferson Parish President Aaron Broussard has resigned, effective at the close of business on Friday afternoon.

Broussard is facing scrutiny and criticism because of the business dealings of his former top executive, resigned Jefferson Parish Chief Administrative Officer Tim Whitmer.

Broussard plans to issue a letter of resignation, but so far, has no plans to hold a press conference on the matter.  Broussard did call many of the Jefferson Parish councilmembers to tell them of his plans to step down.

He's also facing scrutiny from The Metropolotan Crime Commission.  The commission believes some of Broussard's business dealings show an abuse of power.

Stay tuned to FOX 8 and www.fox8live.com for developments to this breaking story.
