New Orleans - A bill that would help people affected by tainted Chinese drywall passed in the final hours of the legislative session, but it would only apply to people who used Road Home money to rebuild.

Tuesday, Senator Mary Landrieu, D-LA, said the federal government is not any further along with bailing out the rest of the homeowners affected.

“We have not fashioned a remedy yet, but we’re working on that study help us to come up with some ideas about something the federal government can do,” Landrieu said.

HUD must still approve the state plan that calls for at least $5 million of recovery money to be allocated for emergency rental assistance.. And another $50 million to assist families with tainted drywall.

What happens to us, the ones that used their own money because they couldn't get Road Home money. This is not fair. We all should be treated equaly when It comes to this. I lost everything in Katrina too. And now this. Please now think about this problem.
