Washington D.C. - The 2009 Jefferson Award recipients were announced at a Gala Dinner at East Hall, Union Station in Washington D.C. Both the National Winners and “unsung heroes” came from across the United States to celebrate making a difference in their community and country. The 2009 National Winners are:

Greg Mortenson- Greatest Public Service By a Private Citizen
William E. Milliken- Greatest Public Service Benefiting the Disadvantaged
Jennifer Staple- Greatest Public Service By an Individual 35 Years or Under
Dick Bere- Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis Award
Karen Broughton- Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis Award
Kevin Brown- Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis Award
Diane Dobitz- Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis Award
Catalino Tapia- Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis Award
Lynn Falanga- National Recipient For Outstanding Service by an Employee
Brandy Sabatini-Regan- National Recipient For Outstanding Service By an Employee
Salesianum School- National Recipient For Outstanding Service By a High School
Chris Wallace was the host for the 37th Annual National Ceremony and Gala Dinner. Board Members in attendance included Cris Collinsworth, Kathleen Kennedy Townsend, Harris Wofford, and Co-Founder of the Jefferson Awards, Sam Beard. Over 400 people were in attendance to help honor and salute the Jefferson Awards recipients.
