Job Description:

WVUE-TV FOX 8 is located in New Orleans, LA, is seeking a full-time Anchor. The idea candidate has to be a team player.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
* Gather production and on-camera reporting of news in an accurate, objective, timely, concise and compelling manner.
* Experienced in the techniques of television news storytelling and must be proficient in the on-camera reporting of news.
* Ability to verbally communicate information both extemporaneously and from the printed page and Teleprompter.

SKILLS/EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
* At lease five years commercial news reporting experience with preferred 3 years anchoring experience. Performance should be measurable.
* Experience in reporting and coordinating live news segments and broadcasts on location.
* Excellent news judgment, written and verbal communication skills. Must be a skilled on-camera interviewer.
* Strong interpersonal skills including the ability to contribute in an on-camera and off-camera team environment.
* Must be available to work nights and/or weekends.

Interactive Sales Manager

WVUE-TV FOX 8 in New Orleans, LA, is looking for an Interactive Sales Manager. This position will be responsible for aggressively pursuing digital media ad sales with local, national clients and also with interactive and traditional advertising agencies. This individual will oversee and sell all digital properties including website, mobile and text. They will be on top of shifting media trends, and how the web is impacting marketplaces and companies’ business models. They will demonstrate an ability to think creatively, sell strategically, and communicate effectively internally and externally. In addition to individual sales expectations, this person will train and mentor broadcast sellers through dual calls, product training and execution of sales materials. The right candidate will be able to effectively report on their activity and the category as needed.

Qualifications and Responsibilities:

•Minimum 2-3 years of sales experience; online and media sales preferred.
•Proactively prospect, qualify, grow and maintain an account list.
•Track record of developing long-term relationships with (and commitments from) major clients and agencies.
•Ability to develop proposals, sales materials and respond to client information requests.
•Monitor current campaigns and develop and evaluate delivery.
•Maintain a comprehensive understanding of available advertising programs, site information and resources.
•Dedicated and driven work ethic, excellent writing, presentation, communication and networking skills.
•Able to identify and create unique sales properties and promotions, including contests and special advertising programs.
•Analyze competitive (local) online media marketplace.
•Industry and ad agency contacts a big advantage.
•The successful candidate must enjoy problem solving and be unafraid of technical solutions.

Requirements:
•Must possess strong editorial background, vision, creativity and great communication skills with the ability to motivate others in an aggressive environment over multiple platforms.
•Must have experience in growing a newsroom and will be expected to handle many different tasks.
•News and Web producing background is a must.
•Minimum 5 years management experience in broadcast news.
•College degree is required.

Internships Fox 8 News accepts intern applications throughout the year. We have a number of areas where someone can specialize: on-air/producers; photographers; weather; graphics.
To apply, here is what is needed:

• You must be attending a school which will give the student, in writing, credit for the number of hours worked. You should see your counselor to obtain this permission. The school must also specify how many hours, per week, an intern must be at Fox 8 News.
• Once permission has been obtained, the student should call the Fox 8 News News Director at (504) 486-6161 for an interview.
• If accepted, a schedule will be set up with the intern and Fox 8 News. Interns are required to be at Fox 8 News no less than 4 hours at any one time since they may be sent to accompany reporters and photographers on stories.
• Interns at Fox 8 News are not paid. Instead, they receive school credit upon successful completion of their internship.
• Interns do not do any work which cannot already be performed by a paid employee. An internship is designed to expose the student to the rigors of the television business. It is then up to the intern to decide if the business is what he or she would like to pursue for a career.
