New Orleans - Some people with Chinese drywall installed in their homes will get help from the federal government.

Tuesday, the Department of Housing and Urban Development announced it's instructing mortgage lenders to offer temporary relief to FHA insured families.   That help includes not assessing late fees to homeowners working to correct problems brought on by tainted drywall.

HUD also announced community development block grants can be used to help local communities combat drywall problems.  Historically, CDBG funds have been used to help rehabilitate homes through grants, loans and loan guarantees.
