Senator David Vitter is expressing concern about President Barack Obama's visit to New Orleans next week.

Vitter says it is his understanding that a town hall meeting will be the only major event the president attends. Vitter is concerned that may be too brief.

In a letter to Obama, Vitter urged him to expand his trip to include helicopter tours of coastal erosion and hurricane protection and meet about ongoing challenges.

“The main request is that it just be a longer visit, a full day with site tours and things like the 17th Street Canal or the other two outfall canals with discussions with community leaders about issues like F-Map - the critical medical funding issue,” said Vitter.

Senator Mary Landrieu's office stressed that detail of the president's visit were still being worked out, but Landrieu also has expressed concern that the visit will be too short.
