Al D. from New Orleans asks: "I've been shopping for a new laptop online. Is a 7,200 rpm hard drive worth the money? It's $50 more than the same size 5,400 rpm drive."

ANSWER: A 7,200 rpm notebook hard drive will load programs faster and deliver better overall performance, but there's a downside. It will use more power, so your battery will run down sooner. You have to decide what's more important. If you want your notebook computer to perform more like a desktop, opt for the faster rotating hard disk. If maximum battery life is numero uno, stick with the 5,400 rpm offering.

Ernest B. from Harvey writes: "My computer died, so I bought a new one with Vista. Now I can't print, but I'm sure there's nothing wrong with my printer. Is there a trick to getting Vista to print?"

ANSWER: You are a prime candidate for Microsoft Automated Troubleshooting Service (ATS), a new online tool that automatically fixes common computer problems, including printing problems and printing errors. Microsoft claims ATS will diagnose and correct the inability to print, problems connecting to a network printer, and various printing-related errors.
