- Delores K. from Harvey asks: "I hate web pages that show you distorted pictures of words and make you type them. I don't see well and rarely get them right. What does this accomplish?"
ANSWERED JULY 8th - It's called a CAPTCHA, which stands for Completely Automated Public Turing Test To Tell Computers and Humans Apart. Its main purpose is to fight spam and prevent automated abuse of comment blogs, website registration, web polls, and other online resources. CAPTCHA tests involve decoding distorted text, which at least for now is beyond the capabilities of modern computers. For more information, see The Official CAPTCHA Site.

- Gina H. from Metairie asks: "Since Windows Update installed Internet Explorer 8 on my PC, Norton Internet Security 2008 keeps displaying error messages about my phishing filter. Do you know how to fix this?"
ANSWERED JULY 8TH - At this time, Norton 2008 products might not be fully-compatible with Internet Explorer 8, partly due to Microsoft's renaming IE7's Phishing Filter the SmartScreen® Filter in IE8. Symantec recommends using Live Update to make sure your copy of Norton Internet Security 2008 (NIS 2008) is up to date, but if problems persist, consider upgrading to the 2009 version, which you can do at no charge anytime during your remaining NIS 2008 subscription period. For more information, visit Norton Product Support.
