The opportunity to request the government's $40 DTV converter box coupons officially ended July 31st.
The opportunity to request the government's $40 DTV converter box coupons officially ended July 31st.
Gizelda T. from New Orleans asks: "Can I still apply for those $40 discount coupons you can use to buy a DTV converter box?"

ANSWERED September 16 - No, I'm sorry. The NTIA's DTV coupon-eligible converter box (CECB) program officially ended on July 31st. You can no longer apply for coupons, request replacements for expired coupons, or file an appeal. Un-expired coupons, however, are still valid. Preliminary reports say over 64.1 million coupons were requested during the run of the program, with almost 170,000 requests coming in the last day. For more information, see DTV2009.gov.

Robert F. from Old Metairie writes: "I'm trying to help an elderly neighbor rebuild his computer, after his hard drive crashed. He insists on running Windows 98, which is all his PC can handle. Most of the free programs he had aren't available anymore. I can only find versions for Windows XP or Windows Vista. Where can I find older versions of software, like AOL or Winzip?

ANSWERED September 16 - Believe it or not, a website, called OldVersion.com, specializes in just that. The site has been supplying older versions of various programs since 2001. Hopefully, you will find everything there that your neighbor needs.
