Frank B. from Covington writes: "Kindly explain why Windows Vista ignores my folder view preferences, particularly with my external hard drive?"
ANSWERED August 19 Windows Vista employs folder templates to display files in a folder. By default, templates are assigned based on the type of files in a folder (Document, Music, Pictures and Videos, etc.) Vista, however, only assigns the All Items template to folders on external storage devices. If you choose a custom template, Vista will forget it as soon as you disconnect the drive. For more information about Vista's folder templates, visit Vista64x.com.

Stu E. from Metairie asks: "I'm looking for a free clipboard program. Any suggestions?"
ANSWERED August 19: I like Francis Gastellu's ClipX. By default, it remembers the 25 most recent Windows clipboard entries and can be launched from the system tray. It's free and works with either Windows Vista or XP. There's even a 64-bit beta version. For more information, visit Bluemars.org.
