"I'm going to buy a new PC as soon as Windows 7 comes out, but I want everything that's on my old Windows XP computer to be on the new one. How can I do this?"
ANSWERED August 26th -
The
Windows Automated Installation Kit (AIK) for Windows 7 is a free download from Microsoft. It contains the
User State Migration Tool, which can help you move the files and user settings from your old computer. There is even a online video you can watch to gain a better understanding of the process.
Click here to download the Windows AIK (WARNING: The kit is a 1,700 MB file -- that'a a 1.7 GB download!) and
click here to watch the video. You can also
download the video in
.wmv format to play in Windows Media Player.

"I tried to show my friends how they can refuse Internet Explorer 8 in Windows Update, but they get confused. Is there a way you can just block it?"
ANSWERED August 26th - Yes, but you must know how to execute a command from a command prompt. Microsoft has released a
free download, called "Toolkit to Disable Automatic Delivery of Internet Explorer 8." The package contains a file, called
IE80Blocker.cmd. If you execute command "IE80Blocker.cmd /B" (without the quotes) at a command prompt, it blocks IE8 indefinitely. The command "IE80Blocker.cmd /U" (without the quotes) unblocks the installation of IE8.
