Tom Walter has confirmed to FOX 8 Sports that he is leaving UNO to be the next head baseball coach at Wake Forest.  A formal announcement and press conference has been scheduled for Tuesday.

Walter took over the UNO baseball program in 2005, and lead the Privateers to back-to-back NCAA Tournament appearances in 2007 and 2008.

The news comes as UNO is fighting to keep athletics alive at the unversity.  Athletics faces major budget problems due to cuts made by the state. Earlier this year, students voted down an increase in fees to fund athletics.
