Tulane baseball scored 20 runs on 20 hits in a complete thrashing of Northern Colorado on Sunday at Turchin Stadium.

The 20-6 win gave the Green Wave the series sweep over the Bears, a first for Rick Jones’ club this season.

Tulane got a big offensive lift from the middle of their lineup, including 5 RBI’s from Senior Outfielder Sam Honeck who finished the day a double short of the cycle. “Northern Colorado was really down on their pitching, and so we took advantage with the wind blowing out, but they really were thin on the mound, but at this point, as anemic as we’ve been offensively, it doesn’t matter. We’ll take a day like this and try to build on it”, said Tulane head coach Rick Jones, whose team improved to 14-9 with today’s win.

The Wave homered 5 times in the game, 2 of which came from Honeck, but no one could steal the spotlight from first baseman Karl Mundt, who for the second consecutive game was perfect at the plate. Mundt, in just his second start of the season, went 4-4 with 3 RBI, and after 2 off-season surgeries is finally showing what he can do when healthy and Coach Jones is taking notice, “We’ve had a tough time scoring runs, and got a great lift from Karl Mundt the last couple of days, and he’s finally getting healthy. He can really swing the bat and he showed that today.”
