An Alabama man has received more than $18,000 worth of parking tickets because the plate on his car, which reads XXXXXXX, matches the default code authorities use for cars without plates.

Scottie Roberson says he chose the plate because of his nickname, Racer X, and his favorite number, seven.

Roberson says he's called city officials and told them about the problem but he continues to get notices.

He says at one point he was getting up to 10 fines a day from places he barely visits.

Officials say they are working on changing the system, perhaps even leaving the part blank, so that Roberson will not receive any more tickets.
