Many families choose to not purchase individual health insurance, but to use the medical plan offerred by their employers. This is usually the easiest and the least expensive form of protection. When both spouses work, it is often beneficial to examine both plans before making a decision. An employer, however, may choose the level of coverage that can be received. Advantages of this type of coverage are that the premiums are often deducted directly from your paycheck and the fact that your coverage cannot be terminated regardless of the number of claims you file. Some basic plans, however, are more generous than others. Depending on the company you work for and the insurance carrier, reimbursement for some procedures may be limited or not covered at all. Consult an insurance professional for more information about employer provided insurance.
