Medicaid is a federal and state program that helps pay for health care for the elderly, needy, blind, and disabled. It also provides assistance to low-income families. The state determines eligibility and which services are covered. The federal government then reimburses the state for a percentage of the state's spending. Supplemental insurance is insurance that is purchased in addition to Medicaid. It is advisable to subscribe to a supplemental policy or plan, although one is all you need. Duplicate insurance policies are generally not necessary. For more information on supplemental insurance, contact your health care provider.
