The biological father's rights include having his name on the child's birth certificate, shared parental responsibility, the right to request custody, and the right to request visitation. The father should make decisions with the mother regarding education, health and general welfare of the child. The father can request custody, and in some cases to take legal action on behalf of the child even if he doesn't have custody. Visitation can be granted by the court if custody is not, and the limits of visitation will be determined by the court. For more information regarding the biological father's rights, consult an experienced family law attorney in your area.
