Whether it's the Super Bowl-- the most-watched sporting event of the year-- or another event, game-watching parties are becoming increasingly popular. The television set is the focal point: the bigger the screen, the better. Position your TV (t-v) so that everyone who wants a seat can have one and still enjoy the game. If the room is large and you have lots of guests, consider renting a big-screen TV. Add festive touches to the room, such as team pennants, streamers, and other items with team logos and mascots. When considering the menu, keep in mind that these are your basic snack-food and finger-food party. Don't wait until the game starts to order your food, figuring that it will arrive in time for halftime; it probably won't. Make arrangements earlier in the day or the day before, and order a wide variety of whatever food you choose. If it's going to be a potluck party, have a list ready when guests ask, 'What can I bring?' If you leave it up to them, you may end up with 24 packs of beer and a pan of brownies. Let guests serve themselves from a a small buffet. Keep it simple. You can't watch the game if you're watching the stove. Easy dishes, such as chili or jambalaya, need only a salad and bread to complete the meal. Munchies-- such as chips, popcorn, sliced veggies, and dips-- are always popular. Have plenty of food on hand for those fans who keep going back for more. Check for special diets, and offer non-alcoholic beverages, as well as alternative transportation home. You may wish to have other activities available for those who aren't enamored of the game, such as playing music or watching a video.
