Award-winning, veteran reporter Dave McNamara has returned to the newsroom by joining the FOX 8 News staff.
McNamara will provide a special series of stories, called “Heart of Louisiana,” that gives viewers a glimpse into what makes life unique in the Pelican State. He will focus on the rich history and culture of the area, and the special contributions made by the people who live here.
McNamara also plans on producing several documentaries, as well as making other contributions to FOX 8’s coverage of the city’s biggest stories.
One of the state’s most respected journalists, McNamara was in the New Orleans market for more than 25 years before moving with his family to Phoenix in 2006. Many locals will remember McNamara as a hard news television and radio reporter, covering stories that ranged from election night coverage to the Tulane legislative scholarship scandal.
McNamara has since moved back to Baton Rouge with his two children and wife, who is the general manager of WAFB-TV.
McNamara, regarded for his powerful storytelling and exceptional writing, has won four regional Edward R. Murrow awards, three Jim Metcalf awards from the New Orleans Press Club, as well as countless other awards over his nearly three decades of radio and television. McNamara was most recently honored with a 2009 Suncoast Emmy nomination for work through his video-production business, Bayou Digital Media.
McNamara’s first story will air Tuesday, Nov. 10 on the FOX 8 News at 9 p.m.
