New York, NY - Emotions ran high on board the USS New York Friday just hours before her commissioning.

New York firefighters brought in a large plaque made from World Trade Center steel honoring the thousands of people killed in the twin towers. Many fought back tears.

It's an event and a ship that Louisiana shipbuilders are proud to be a part of. Nearly 20 of them took the trip to New York to conduct a final walkthrough before Saturday's commissioning.

Secretary of State Hillary Clinton is scheduled to attend.
