Baton Rouge - This afternoon Governor Jindal has declared a state of emergency in anticipation of Hurricane Ida.

This proclamation allows the governor the powers to deal with emergencies and disasters, including those caused by fire, flood, earthquake or other natural or man-made causes, in order to ensure that preparations of this state will be adequate to deal with such emergencies or disasters and to preserve the lives and property of the people of Louisiana.

The forecast from the National Weather Service indicates that the coastal parishes of southeast Louisiana will be impacted by the effects of Hurricane Ida and subjected to hurricane and/or tropical storm force winds, wave surges, coastal flooding conditions, heavy rains and tornado activity.
