Sylvester Stallone and Jet Li spent Tuesday on Claiborne Avenue near Esplanade shooting scenes for their new movie.
Producers are hoping "The Expendables" will be next summer's big blockbuster.
Stallone, who is also directing the movie, says New Orleans works well with the personality of his characters.
"It's very accommodating and it fits the mood of the movie and everyone's on the mend and these characters are on the mend too," says Stallone.
State and local leaders are looking forward to the film's economic impact.
"You're looking at a $60, $70 million movie spending $40 something million here in Louisiana. That's their estimate. They'll end up spending more than that," Patrick Mulhearn with Louisiana's Film Commission said in April.
Stallone describes the movie about a group of mercenaries trying to over throw a South African dictator as "Rambo times 10."
