New Orleans - Hundreds of guests at the Canal Street Hotel may soon be looking for another place to stay.
Attorneys for the hotel have until 4 pm Thursday to file an appeal which could keep the hotel open for another 10 days.
Earlier, a civil court judge awarded, then revoked a temporary restraining order to allow the hotel to stay open.
In the meantime, hotel workers are continuing to check in guests arriving in town to attend the Essence Festival.  If the judge decides to close the hotel, up to 250 guests may be forced to leave the hotel in search of other accommodations.
Code violations surfaced this week after a woman was found murdered Tuesday night.  The legal action came after hotel management ignored a city request, urging the hotel to temporarily close its doors.  Stay tuned to Fox 8 News for the latest on this developing story.
