Marrero - Detectives believe an 18-year-old woman murdered last night in Marrero was an innocent bystander just trying to get a ride home.

Police found Alisha Lee dead in the back seat of a car in the 2000 block Basie Drive in the Lincolnshire subdivision.

"Actually three different caliber casings on the scene so there were quite a different, varied number of weapons that were utilized," said Jefferson Parish Sheriff Newell Normand.

There are no suspects or motives so far, but today deputies were still picking up evidence. They found a gun clip in a near-by backyard.

Lee's mother is hoping someone will come forward with information.

"Innocent bystanders that don't have nothing to do with what's going on are getting killed, not shot, but killed. 'I'm sorry' can't bring either one of my children back."

Terry Lee lost her 18-year-old son Elijah Lee last February. She says he was caught in the middle of a drive-by shooting just yards from their home.

"He got shot in the head with an AK-47, just like Alisha got shot in the head with an AK-47," said Lee.

Normand admits there are teenagers terrorizing entire neighborhoods, and he admits there's only so much his deputies can do about it.

"There is not gonna be a one law enforcement solution to this problem. We're gonna have to deal with it as a community through education and other issues and trying to change this tide this course we're on."

Another man was shot during last night's incident. The JPSO says Danny Young is in critical condition.

Anyone with information on this case is asked to call Crimestoppers at 822-1111.
