The Dow Chemical Company is closing three production units in Louisiana which employs about 100 people.
The company says 2 units in Hahnville are closing along with one in Plaquemine, near Baton Rouge.
Dow says the affected workers will be offered jobs elsewhere in the company.
The impacted facilities are the ones which manufacture ethylene and ethylene-derivatives. Dow says the closings are part of a restructuring plan the Board of Directors approved in June.
Worldwide, the company has cut 2,500 positions.
Dow spokesman Andrew Liveris says the plan invests in the company's growth in their "performance and advanced materials portfolios."
