New Orleans -- The family of two murder victims in New Orleans East tell FOX 8 that they are shocked and angry.

32-year-old Kim Perry and her 34-year-old brother, Alcee Perry, died Friday night after they were shot several times. Kim Perry's 7-year-old son was also hit in his abdomen and his leg by gunfire, and remains in critical condition at a local hospital.

Details of the attack began to emerge late Friday night. Shortly before 8:00 p.m., Kim Perry had a verbal altercation with a neighbor on the 7400 block of Woodbine Drive.

"He was about to hit the kids, she didn't want him to drive too fast with the kids playing in the street," said a family friend who declined to give her name.

Less than an hour later, 7th District officers responded to a call of a shooting. The Perrys were found lying in the doorway of Kim Perry's home, shot to death.

During the investigation, witnesses identified the neighbor, 23-year-old Ryan Poree, as the person responsible for the shooting. A 3rd District officer spotted Poree walking near the intersection of Chef Menteur Highway and Press Drive, where he was immediately apprehended.

In an un-related incident in February, Poree shot two teens who were breaking into his Woodbine Street home, one of them fatally.  Police considered it an act of self-defense, and Poree was not charged.

Kim Perry's family and friends say they've always feared for her safety since that incident. The mother of four children had just opened her own business, Hope Home Health, and this week she provided free healthcare to the homeless.

Relatives say they are angry with the suspect's family for allowing for him to continue to live at the home since the February incident.

"You stood there while your son spoke her to like a dog last night," said the victims' sister, Kiana Johnson.  "You stood there while your son shot my sister, my brother and my nephew."

Now, the family says they're leaving what happens next to a higher power.  "I pray that God forgives you and your family. I give it to God because that's what my sister would want me to do," said Johnson.

New Orleans police say Poree is charged with two counts of first degree murder and one count of attempted first degree murder.

Information from the Orleans Parish Sheriff's Office indicates Poree was charged in 2008 for illegal carrying of a weapon.  But the District Attorney's office eventually dropped that charge.
